The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh with the help of the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, has distributed over 20,000 pounds of food since its opening June 2009. We are now serving over 65 families. Alhumdallah! Muslims and non Muslim from all around the area, and from many different mesjids. We would like to be able to serve more of the community; we can only do this with your help.
ICP Food Program
We ask that every Imam in the Pittsburgh area please announce to your community about the food bank. We ask that every sister and brother look to your friends, your neighbors, your family and if you believe they qualify please refer them to the program! It is a very simply thing we as Muslims can do to make sure that no one in our goes hungry.
To donate money to the program, click here. To specify donation for food bank, type "Food Bank" in the "(optional) Donation For:" box in the "Review Payment" page.
When: Pick-up is Every 3rd Saturday 11am-1pm of each month.
Where: Basement floor of ICP (see below for directions to ICP)
Make sure you qualify, i.e. yearly income is below maximum. Check the table below:

The next step is enrolling to recieve goods. All applicants and applications are kept private and confidential. Please come to the ICP office and register in person (After entering through the main entrance of ICP, turn left, past the show racks to find the office). To pick up food, you must:
Enroll in Person at ICP Office
Be enrolled FIVE days in advance to recieve goods
Meet income requirements
Bring Proof of Income

This our chance to put into our action our duties as muslim to help those in need, especially with something so basic as providing food. The ICP food program is always in great need of volunteers. This should not be the case! Do your part, for the sake of Allah, and may Allah bless you greatly for it. Amin
There are opportunities to help each month:
3rd Friday of Each Month After Jumaa : Need help unloading the food for the food bank until truck unloaded.
3rd Saturday of Each Month @ 9:00am to 1:30pm : Need to setup and distribute the food to the people until all people are served and Help clean up. Volunteers can come at any time during that time, but the most help is need from 9:00am-11am
