The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh is excited to introduce English as a Second Language classes. These classes aim to empower refugees and other members of our community by giving them the confidence to read, write, and converse more readily in English.

Classes will be held Monday and Thursday evenings from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh. Fees are only $15 per session, for a total $180 for the 6-week course.  Please visit our offices for information on tuition assistance.

The ESL course will be taught by active community- and board-member Alia Schindler.  Sister Alia is working to make strides in the realm of International Education. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and spent some time abroad teaching English as a Second Language. Her encounters overseas solidified her passion in encouraging others to experience new cultures. She currently teaches English as a Second Language at the prestigious Chatham University.
